Why Is
Filler Usage Rising in Middle East?
Driven by the oil trade, the Middle East has one of the fastest-growing economies in the world. This is bringing about a rapid rise in the disposable income of people. Moreover, as the region modernizes itself in its outlook to life, the influence of the Western culture is increasing here, aided by movies and TV shows, social media, and fashion magazines. All this is making people more conscious of their appearance, which is why the cosmetics sector is thriving in the region.
Further, as much of the Middle East is a desert, it suffers under scorching heat and dry weather. This leads to a number of dermatological issues, such as sunburns, summer acne, summer rashes, and dry skin. Since these issues can be cured by dermal fillers, their usage is rising in the U.A.E., Turkey, Iran, and other regional countries. Further, these countries are hosting or are about to host several global events, such as the Dubai Expo 2020 (underway) and 2022 FIFA World Cup (Qatar). This is leading a large number of people to undergo cosmetic treatments before attending these events.
Another reason for the growth of the Middle Eastern dermal fillers market is the rising volume of non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. Compared to open surgeries, minimally invasive ones are shorter and cause lesser pain. Further, they are less-complex and cheaper, have fewer chances of post-op infections, and require a shorter stay in the hospital. However, the biggest advantage that is making them popular is that they cause minimal scarring. And, since looking good is the whole point of a cosmetic surgery, less scarring is a key factor making minimally invasive surgeries popular.
In 2018, Saudi Arabia dominated the Middle Eastern dermal fillers market on account of being the most-populated country in the region. Further, with modernization, women are getting more rights, which is allowing them to step out for beauty and cosmetic treatments. Additionally, as per the UN, by 2050, more than 40 million people in the kingdom will be 60 years old or older, which will lead to a larger number of people than present with skin diseases and aging issues.
Hence, with the increasing appearance consciousness and geriatric population, the demand for dermal fillers will boom in the Middle East.
