Characteristics That Contribute to Dyslexia

It's crucial to remember that not everyone who struggles with writing and reading has dyslexia. Similarly, other factors can contribute to or exacerbate dyslexia-related reading and writing difficulties. During the evaluation, a few contributing aspects that are considered are as follows:

Health: A person's deafness or vision impairments, for instance, may have hampered their ability to write and develop their language skills.

Language: Children from non-English speaking backgrounds typically require more time to acquire speech, reading, and writing skills in both languages.

Education: The individual could not have had the chance to pursue their educational goals because of a long-term medical condition that prevented them from attending classes.

Developmental or behavioural disorders: the individual can have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), which might impede their ability to study.

Rehabilitation for dyslexia

Dyslexia cannot be cured. However, a person with it can gain from expert assistance, such as:

-individual instruction from a qualified teacher

-Reading curriculum based on phonics that teaches the connection between spoken and written sounds

-A multimodal approach to education, which makes use of as many senses as possible, including speaking, hearing, doing, and seeing

agreements with the child's school, such as allowing them to take assessments orally rather than in writing

-gaining knowledge from recorded audio or video.
